Global Travel
Global travel practicum trips are an optional component of the program but offer incredibly rewarding opportunities for the PhD students of Indiana Tech. The goal is to apply concepts studied in the classroom setting to real world international locations. Students gain practical experience in international cultures, enhance research skills, and integrate experiential learning.
The program typically offers two to three international trips per year, each averaging eight to ten days in length. Destinations have included countries from nearly every corner of the globe. PhD students are also given the opportunity to request individual global practicum opportunities.
The academic component of a global practicum often includes journaling, research, and written assignments. Students can earn up to six credits toward their concentration core requirement with global practicum credit.
Financial Aid Opportunity
Because travel is a required part of this course, students may be eligible to borrow additional loan funding to cover the costs of hotel, flight, and car rental expenses. Payment made as part of the overall cost of a group global practicum may also be eligible. Students must submit a receipt to the Doctoral Programs Department within 30 days of the conclusion of the event to be considered for this increase in aid. This adjustment to cover these costs will only be applied if aid is available to the student. Please contact financialaid@indianatech.edu to determine eligibility.
